Ranked progression

How Batomon Showdown ranks work

Ranked unlocks after your first 10-win Casual run. You start at Bronze 8 with zero stars and 1000 ranked MMR, climb toward division 1, then advance through five tiers before Master.

A versus screen shows the Monster Ranger trainer facing the Egg Breeder trainer before a battle.
Ranked uses the same run format, then scores the result in stars and MMR.

The six tiers

Complete a 10-win Casual run to unlock Ranked. From lowest to highest:

  1. BronzeStarts at division 8
  2. SilverDivision 8 → 1
  3. GoldDivision 8 → 1
  4. PlatinumDivision 8 → 1
  5. DiamondDivision 8 → 1
  6. MasterMMR leaderboard

A division shows 0–4 stars. Reaching five promotes you immediately, so five filled stars never remain on the rank display.

Divisions and starting rank

  • The tier order is Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, then Master.
  • Bronze through Diamond each have eight divisions. Division 8 is the lowest and division 1 is the highest within a tier.
  • A new profile starts at Bronze 8 with 0 stars and 1000 ranked MMR.
  • Master has no division and no stars. It keeps ranked MMR and a leaderboard place instead.

How each run changes stars

  • Every completed non-Extended ranked run changes stars by wins minus 5: 0–4 wins lose 5–1 stars, 5 wins changes none, and 6–10 wins earn 1–5 stars.
  • Five stars promote one division. Clearing division 1 promotes you into division 8 of the next tier; clearing Diamond 1 promotes you to Master.
  • If a star loss crosses zero, you move down one division and continue from the carried stars. Crossing below division 8 moves you to division 1 of the previous tier.
  • Bronze 8 at 0 stars is the floor: further star losses are discarded there.

How MMR moves

  • Stars decide your tier and division; MMR is a separate rating. It helps choose ranked opponents and becomes your competitive ordering in Master.
  • MMR change is round(20 × (wins − expected wins)), with a minimum total MMR of zero. Expected wins use your tier and the average eligible opponent rating. Below an equal-rating matchup, the base target scales with the expected battle win rate. Above it, the base target approaches 8.3. The lower-tier bonus applies next, with a final target from 0 to 10. This is the game's local calculation. The game then asks the server to settle the run: it takes an accepted server result, withdraws a refused one, and keeps the local result when the server cannot be reached.
  • Against an equal-MMR slate, the expected-win targets are 9 in Bronze, 8.125 in Silver, 7.25 in Gold, 6.375 in Platinum, and 5.5 in Diamond or Master.
  • Day 1 does not enter the MMR sample. Later bots and negative ratings count as 600. Casual human ratings do not enter it. The calculation ignores ranked samples outside 0–6000. With no eligible sample, it uses your own current MMR.
  • For Master, the day 1–16 opponent targets form the MMR sample in advance. A replacement search does not change that prepared sample.

What changes in Master

  • On promotion from Diamond 1, division and stars are cleared as the rank changes to Master.
  • During a season, Master does not demote. Later ranked runs change MMR, but star and division progression stays disabled.
  • The game asks the server for your Master place. Its legacy fallback counts unshadowed Master profiles with a higher ranked MMR, then adds 1.
  • The game refreshes that place after a Master result, immediately after promotion, and when a returning Master reaches the title screen.

Abandonment, Extended Mode and saves

  • Overwriting an unfinished ranked save settles its current win total. In the current season, that result changes stars and MMR. Earlier-season results update their season history and rewards instead. Extended continuations are exempt.
  • An abandoned ranked save does not add a completed game, a run win, or a completed trainer run; it applies only the rank and MMR result.
  • Continuing a 10-win ranked run in Extended Mode does not score it twice: the normal finish counts, and the continuation's ending does not.
  • Tier, division, stars, and both MMR ratings are saved with your profile.

Ranked seasons

Season resets change rank and MMR. The 1.0.0 release introduced seasons on 15 September 2026.

  • A season reset returns you to Bronze 8 with 0 stars. Ranked MMR becomes 1000 + round((old MMR − 1000) × 0.25), with a minimum of zero. Your old tier does not carry into the new season.
  • Season 0 closed on 14 September 2026. Season 1 started with the 1.0.0 release. Those release notes announced Season 0 badge case rewards for the start of Season 1.
